In Memory of Leon Jacob Schmitz (Grandfather of Jacob Christian) In July of 2002 my father was diagnossed with Lung Cancer. One month earlier I had surprised him with the news that he was going to be a grandfather again and he was so excited. Unfortunately Dad passed away five months before Jacob’s birth. Before he passed, my father predicted that I would have a son and in our hearts we know that Jacob and Dad passed each other in heaven. My dad would have loved to have been in the stands cheering his grandson on. Jacob was named in honor of his grandfather and is playing in the 2013 Strikes Against Cancer Baseball Tournament in honor of him.
