In Memory of Geordon’s Great Uncle, Rich Matteson Geordon’s Great Uncle Rich was an accomplished Jazz musician. Playing with Louie Armstrong, Al Hurt, Count Basie, Pearl Bailey, James Moody, Lawrence Welk and many other jazz greats. Uncle Rich started the North Texas University Jazz Improvisation program while inspiring and educating such musicians as Lyle Mays. Uncle Rich passed away from prostate cancer in 1993.
