Strikes Against Cancer recognize the benefits of Trained Therapy Dogs Aiding Cancer Patients. Research suggests that visits with animals may improve patient outcomes, decrease length of hospital stay, help with confusion, depression and manage pain symptoms.
This logo and program was specifically created by the request of Geordon’s mother before she passed away from cancer. Her dog Chewy, an Australian Cattle Dog, comforted throughout her cancer treatments.
We have built a relationship with the Heart of Texas Therapy Dogs; they are a non-profit all volunteer group whose members are registered with the national Therapy Dog Inc. Their dog/handler serve in a variety of settings in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metro-Plex in Medical Facilities, Schools, and Shelters. www.hotthdogs.org
